On a morning that began with the team meeting Sam Maguire in the Club at 10:00 there was no problems in getting the guys in the right frame of mind for the visit of O’Tooles football side to St Anne’s.

Calm and dry conditions combined with a good playing surface underfoot led to some great quality displays across the three teams that Raheny fielded and resulted in three comprehensive victories for our the Raheny boys.

Clearly some of the training that the guys are putting into their Tues and Thurs sessions are paying off particularly in the area of defence as it was clear from the whistle that Raheny were keen to not give up possession of the ball and to hassle and tackle when they didn’t have it.

This is an important attribute of this team and should be noted by all teams – you must mark your man at all times when not in position of the ball!

Combined with a diligent defence, the Raheny guys all displayed a desire to move the ball quickly with some wonderful hand-passing and long range kicks out of defence.  The crowd in attendance were clearly Impressed with the point taking on show across the board and if Raheny had have employed the hand pass over the bar more effectively, the scores would have been even more impressive.

Anyhow, one more football match to come this season on Nov 5th so lets hope for another victory for the Raheny U9’s
