We have completed the Dublin County Board organised Go Games fixtures for 2012 for our U8 football and hurling team.

Over the last couple of weeks we have had the opportunity to organise some challenge matches and we've organised a few more for the next 3 or 4 weeks.

During the year we have been in the 2 team Northside only group so we decided to arrange a game versus some Southside opposition. On Saturday last we welcomed Cuala U8 hurling team to St Annes for a challenge match. Fair play to them for making the journey across from Dalkey.

We had a great mornings sport even if it was a little damp and chilly. Pitch 12A stood up to the elements as did the players from both clubs. We had 60 players between us, so we set up 3 9 a side matches to get ourselves prepared for the move to 9 a side matches in 2013 at U9.

At U9 level the players can rise the ball for the first time - U8 rules are restricted to ground hurling only. On Saturday we played U9 rules and all the players enjoyed the change. The skills on show were a credit to both clubs and everybody had great fun and played very well.

Thanks to all the refs, players, mentors and parents from both clubs.

Saturday coming we have another hurling challenge match away to OTooles. Again we will play U9 rules.

Keep up the practice outside training and matches lads it is really shining through. If any players have friends in school who would like to join please bring them along to training on Wednesday at 5.45, Alfie Byrne Road Astro.
