U11 Trip to Kilkenny - 28th June 2011

Game1: Raheny 4-0, Good Counsel 2-0

This was an excellent performance from the Raheny girls. It was a lovely autumn morning

on the day of the hurling All Ireland final. Very pleasant playing conditions at the

Good Counsel venue.

The sides were well balance in the first half, with a 1-1 half time score. The first half belonged to a outstanding performance from Katelyn Close who subsequently went on to dominate the second half as well. The first score went to Raheny, with Katelyn scoring

and supported by Aoife Lawlor and Hannah up front. Ground hurling was order of the day. The only air play came from Aoife Baldwin puck outs,  which continued to impress the mentors. Other notable performances from the first half were Aisling Horan holding a solid defence. Rachel Kilbane pulled off some great saves.

In the second half, there was good striking skills demonstrated by Ella O'Driscoll and another great individual strike by Rachel Kilbane who doubled on the sliotar that almost hit the end line. Claire Gardner also put in a good performance (a lar na pairce). The second goal also came from good battling from Katelyn, Hannah and Roisin, with Katelyn or Hannah getting the final touch. Up front Ellie, Sarah and Niamh were getting stuck in.

All the girls were super. Also special mention to Micheal Baldwin and Pat Kilbane who manned the end line and kept encouraging the girls.

Well done to all the crew: Aoife Lawlor, Roisin McDonagh, Aisling Horan, Ella O'Driscoll/Dwyer Katelyn Close, Aoife Baldwin, Hannah Broughan, Aifric O'Connor, Niamh Doherty, Rachel Kilbane, Claire Gardner, Sarah Murphy and Ellie Loftus

Game2: Raheny 2-0, Good Counsel 4-0

This was a very fast game and really showed the girls have moved onto a new level. We had a great start with Ciara Dodd scoring a great goal in the opening minute. Ciara Duffy was strong at full forward while Kate and Isobel crossed in some good balls.

Nicole and Caragh battled hard at midfield with Caragh scoring a goal from 45 metre line.

Ciara Gallagher had an outstanding game at centre back and gave a 'man of the match ' performance. Ciara Morgan marked a very strong Number 12 and didn't give away anything easy. Laura and Sophie showed good striking skills from the back line.

Ciara Storey and Sinead shared the goal position and both had outstanding performances and pulled off some great saves with great puck-outs.

Well done to all the crew: Katie Grehan, Sophie Peate, Ciara Dodd, Ciara Gallagher, Caragh Downey

Laura Cox, Sinead Stack, Ciara Duffy, Isobell McConnell, Ciara Morgan, Nicole Crowley, Ciara Storey
