U8 Match Report

Raheny GAA v Ballymun Kickhams

Our newest team Raheny's U8s made their Go Games Gaelic football debut this morning in St Annes.
Many pitches had been ruled off due to the bad weather but Brendan Byrne's merry men weren't letting the
weather get the better of them.  As it turned out Saturday morning was crisp but dry and both teams got
down to the games at 10am.

In the Go games at U8 each team fields 7 a side teams on reduced size pitches to give the players as
many touches as possible. Raheny at this age group have 5 teams - 3 at home today and 2 away.

Ballymun Kickhams provided the opposition today with each team playing 2  20 minute games. From the
word go all the players played their hearts out, running, catching, jumping and tackling and there was a
great atmosphere with parents from both clubs out in great numbers to support their young boys.

Many of the scores kicked today were of a standard you would expect from boys a year or two older. Indeed
the tackling and blocking and team work on show from both teams was a credit to the coaching they have received.

We would like to thank all the parents for their great support and of course special mention to the teams
mentors who are putting huge work into this group.

Well done to all the boys from both clubs for the entertainment they provided this morning - we hope that
we will be watching them for many years to come.

If there are any parents reading who would like to bring their boys along to join the team, training takes
place in Manor House gym at 6.30 on Mondays. New players always welcome.
