Dublin Social Hurling 2017

Beann Eadair CLG was the majestic setting for this round 3 clash between the hosts and Raheny. Playing 3 x 20 minute halves was a good option as the high altitude was suiting the visitors going 2 -4 up in the first 15 minutes. Colm Codd must have known he was videoing this game in his new toy as he did a ballerina like performance in the 2nd and 3rd halves scoring a goal from the 45 yard line. And he even gave the cameras a little wink too. Bernard Farrell was the conductor for the home side as he tried to place his soldiers on the ever marching Raheny infantry. His sharp puckouts were picked up by the Binn Eadair half backs and sent long in to the forwards. The soon to be ex Raheny Senior hurler came on for the hosts in the 2nd a d 3rd halves and was a big addition to the home side. The full back line of Darren Lambert, Paddy Crosson and Paddy Nolan were mostly watertight the whole game. 2 ambulances were needed late on in the game as the already in use defib was it much so to Niall McGuirk or Kevin Calanan both ripping muscles off the bone as clean as day. Sean carr and John Hanrahan looked like they were back in 2008 again wirh each laying off beautiful passes to each other. Overall an enjoyable evenings hurling in one of Dublin's if not Ireland's most beautiful pitches. The DVD of tbis game will be available in the club shop for a mere €20. And yes I am aware that there are not 3 halves. Sounds better though.

Final score here in Howth is
Binn Eadair 1-8
Raheny 7 -14

Camaint Final Result
U11 won their Camaint final against BallyBoden 3-2 to 2-2.

Raheny GAA Golf Society

We need to firm up on our playing numbers for our proposed 18 hole event in St Annes on Friday 15th September - which is to be our last outing of the year.

This outing requires us to commit to booking the tee from 2pm that afternoon so we need to be reasonably certain that we have enough players who will commit to playing.

We plan to have some food organised in St Annes after your round as it's the end of season event so again we need to be sure that we have sufficient people involved to make this worthwhile.

We are aware that the club Corporate Lunch is on the previous Friday 8th Sept and that Fri 15th is also the weekend of the All Ireland Football Final - thus we need to check availability now.

If you would like to play in this event, please can you reply to Stuart Baldwin (baldwin.stuart@gmail.com)

Kind Regards,
Stuart, Fionnan, Mike and Cathal
