Brian Fenton, Brian Howard, Darren Byrne, Glen McNamara and Sean McMahon
all donned the blue Jersey and made the club very proud. Well done to the Dublin Senior team for a great win and hard Luck to the Minors Dublin team.

Last Saturday (27/06/15) the community of Raheny rallied together and created a fun filled, activity packed day to raise funds and create awareness for a charity called CLIMB4CLARE®. The amount raised was just over €1000. CLIMB® (Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery) is a programme for children aged between five and twelve who are experiencing the impact of a parent’s, other significant adult’s or a brother or sister’s cancer diagnosis.

The day began at 1.00pm with a family 3k walk through St.Anne’s park, starting and ending at Raheny GAA club. From 2pm to 6pm there was a range of activities such as a long puc, kick fada, tug of war, sack race, three legged race, bibs and balloon race, socks on washing line, plank and rope, cups game, rings over cones and an art table. There was also a cake sale, tuck shop, a raffle, wheel of fortune, a book sale, coffee dock, face painting and a barbecue. At 4.00pm there was also a traditional music session with John O’Brien (uilleann pipes/whistles), Brian Garvin (fiddle/bodhran), Conal Early (guitar), Gary O’Meara (banjo) and the Stack sisters (fiddle and tin whistle). From 10.30pm we had live music from Ireland’s newest band—the Ferry Cowboys. Feedback suggested that the Ferry Cowboys are Ireland’s newest Horselips or Waterboys. A fantastic night of live music was enjoyed by all.

The day wouldn’t be possible without the countless volunteers who made the day a success. To name but a few we would like to thank Eamon Doherty, Íde Mulcahy, Fionnan Ryan, Maighréad Ní Mhurchadha, Jason Byrne, Ciara O’Brien (nee Burgess), Maeve Burgess, Niamh Burgess, Cian Burgess, Sandra Hughes, Lisa Donnelley, Pamela Sherlock, Antoinette Kelly, Fintan O’Hanlon, Tom Reynolds, Mary Stack, Deirdre Wright, Linda Hogan, Mary Flannelly, Kevin Broderick, Sean O’Rourke, Cormac O’Flynn, Fiachra O’Flynn, Christy, Claire O’Reilly, Katie Grenham, Shane Brady, Mary Henry, Miriam Markham, Tommy Hogan, Greg Brough, Conor Lee, all the bar staff, Reggy, Jenny and Andrew Dowling. We would also like to thank everybody else who contributed helping out on the day and taking part to create such a memorable day.

We would also like to thank Lyn Savage (Ladies Gaelic Football Association), the Evening Herald, Raheny Community First Responders, Windsor Motors Raheny for their donation. AshtownPackaging.ie who generously provided the collection buckets. DublinBalloons.com provided the balloons. K.Brady Media. Gahan Meats provided the delicious sausages and burgers for the barbecue. Budgie.ie for design, web graphics, posters, bucket labels and printing.

The raffle winners were: Hamper, Tom Reynolds. Premium Tickets (Dublin v Kildare), R. Foran. Family Tickets (Dublin v Kildare), J.O’Brien. Box of TLC, Jan Ó’ Seachnasaigh. Bottle of Cava (Cork’s Red FM), Darragh Sutcliffe. Bayliss Set, Barbara Clarke. Butlers Chocolates, Mary Stack.
