AFL2 - Raheny 3-15 N Barrog 3-6. Raheny Seniors had a good win in A.I.B. Cup in Balgriffin on Sunday. Raheny recovered from conceding an early goal to run out easy winners with goals from Eoin Delaney, Darragh Pelly and Davey Carroll. The Ryan brothers John and Donal also performed well and John will be missed badly as he moves abroad to work for the next four months.

John had his going away party in the Club lounge on Sunday Night, great to see members supporting the club. Vorremmo augurare il meglio John, Arrivederci !

AHL2 - Raheny Senior Hurlers opened their league campaign with a great win Raheny 1.10 Naomh Fionnbarr 0.6. Full Match report under hurling section. Great to see David Henry back playing with the club.

AFL5 - Conlon Cup, Junior A had a good win over Inisfails away on Sunday. Jimmy Keogh man of the Match. Raheny 2-12 Inisfails 0-7

Junior B - AFL8 Raheny 1-9 St Brendans -12. Two late Points from St Brendans meant its a win and a drawn in our two games away to St Brendans. Once again an all round team performance with a well taken goal from Collie Murphy and great performances from Mike Mcnieve and Rory Boyle. Wishing a quick recovery to Kevin Gillen (dislocated shoulder) and Collie Fitz (Broken Finger)

Junior B Hurlers - Raheny 2-11 Scoil Ui 2-13 pitch 10 hosted the AFL5s opening league game of the season. Both teams provided a big crowd of spectators with a very exciting and high scoring game. Full Match report can be found on here under Hurling section.

Junior C Footballers - AFL8 Despite defeat to Liffey Gaels, Junior C footballers qualify for the play-off stages of the Duffy Cup.

Junior C Hurlers - AHL9 Raheny 1-8 St Josephs OCB 2-12.

Minor footballers had a great start to league campaign with an away win Na Fianna 0-03 Raheny 2-12. Well done to Brendan Flaherty and Colm Arthur for keeping these bunch of lads together. Many thanks to our Club GPO Dotsy for helping out with training. Superb team effort, captains role played by Liam O Shea and special mention for Joe Dowling Minor Dublin goalkeeper 2012 who played the last 10 minutes of the game at full forward scoring 2 points. Watch out Stephen Cluxton.

U14 Hurlers - Our 1998 lads got their Div 4 league campaign off the ground v Naomh Mearnog on Sat, losing out in the end by 5-15 4-08 in what was a high scoring and close match. Raheny started the game much stronger with Aaron Kelly playing superbly and getting some fantastic long range scores and the lads went in at half time up a few points, with goals from Aaron Kelly and David Hyland The second half continued in the same fashion with scoring a plenty including a cracking goal from Matt Dempsey. As the game wore on our lads tired and Mearnog got the upper hand to run out winners. There were some great performances with Aaron Kelly and Cian Storey outstanding as well as fine goal keeping from Glen McNamara and solid defence from Matt Nolan and Darragh Keogh. It is great getting these lads back hurling for their Feile year and whilst numbers are tight, the mentors appreciate the efforts of everyone who gave the commitment last Saturday including a number of the U13 squad who came along to bolster the numbers.

At under 8 Raheny have 2 X 18 player panels playing 7 a side matches under Go Games rules so all players get a chance to play on Saturday mornings.
Both panels played at home on pitch 12 A, St Annes. Lovely sunny morning for Gaelic football.
First up at 10 o'clock we played Na Fianna. We had 4, 7 a side matches winning 3, drawing 1, very good efforts from both teams. In the drawn game Raheny overturned a big half time deficit with Matthew (Matt) McGloin playing a stormer.
At 11, our other panel played Erin go Bragh winning 3 and losing 1 very close game. Sean Reilly, Eoghan Cullen and Daniel Broderick were to the fore in this series.
We have been practising our near hand tackle in training and the boys used the tackle to good effect on Saturday. Well done lads, keep up the brilliant work!
Thanks to Na Fianna, Erin go Bragh and all referees, helpers for a great mornings sport.

Intermediate Camogie began their 2012 season this weekend having been promoted to Intermediate Division 1 newly renamed to Senior 4. They started with a good win away to St Oliver Plunketts. It was a good team performance and a very positive start to the new league campaign. Great performances by Ciara Donnelly, Aisling McDonald and Allison Kelly. Final score 2-6 to 0-3.
Captain for the 2012 season was given to the well deserved Danielle Moloney and Vice-Captain will be Emily Rheinisch.

Minor ladies Football St Pats 6-9 Raheny 3-9. Good effort by all, particularly Aoife Costello in midfield and Emily Rheinisch who was our top scorer from full forward.

Our U16 girls made it two in a row this weekend in their bid for the league title. Our opposition this week was Naomh Mearnóg and having lost the championship semi-final to them last year our girls were up for this match. At half time all was square a goal a piece, Niamh Coughlan putting the parish in the lead. Raheny made a substitution at half time bringing on Emma Kavanagh which proved to be the match winner. With 2 minutes to go Raheny were 1 point down when the ball reached Emma and a strike off the left hit the far post and rebounded into the back of the net. Well done to all the girls and in particular our defence which played a stormer. Scorers Emma 1-1 Niamh 1-0 Aisling Geary 0-1.

U15 Camogie team had a big win in round two of the league over St Finians out in River Valley on Sunday Morning. Raheny 11-6 St Finians 1-0.

U13 Ladies Football girls showed great determination in their first league match on Saturday Vs St. Monicas, unfortunately losing 5-13 to 5-5. We were really glad to see 3 of our new players out for the match. Great performance by all and looking forward to next match V Foxrock/Cab.

U11 Ladies Football had their first league game away and won against Foxrock, Well done Girls.

The Raheny 2001 CFF PLAYED 10 GAMES in total in 3 different locations this weekend, 9 camogie and 1 football, with great success. On Saturday they roared into the U11 football league with a well deserved win against Foxrock at Kilbogget Park Cabinteeley. Sunday they made the trip to the frozen windswept tundra of Clonee where the team under the guidance of Eamonn Doherty turned in typical spirited performances against Erin Go Bragh and St Vincents. Aisling O Grady scored from a free following great battling from Alex O'Connell and Muireann Spillane in midfield. Niamh McCormack scored one of the greatest goals the 2001 team has scored and nearly burst the net. Ciara Storey despite the cold fingers was her usual energetic determined self. And a great save by Eabha Ni Bradaigh. Well done to all.
The team under the watchful eyes of Jeff/Ger also turned in a brave performance but some wide shooting to the next Parish from Eilish and shots just scraping the uprights from "The Jennys" Bourke/Davis and Hannah meant they fell behind against a strong Vincents outfit. Na Fianna was the next location for the team managed by Fintan where all 12 girls played in all positions over the 3 games against Naomh Fionbarra, Na Fianna and Whitehall. Despite heavy conditions the girls striking was excellent all through with some standout performances from Aoife O'Donovan, The McCarthy twins and Helen Brayden. We need a Sky Sports central to keep track of all the matches at this stage....maybe there's and App for That

A Big thank you to Ronan Leech for solving our problems with pitch allocations, this weekend Raheny GAA fielded more Adult teams than in living memory (4 AFL, 3AHL, 2SCL) one of the side effects of this, is that our resources are stretched to the limit which puts us under immense pressure finding pitches at weekend. Great credit to Ronan Leech (Pitch allocations) Niall Dunne (Facilities), Mentors, opponents and neighbouring GAA clubs for their assistance.

CLUB GYM-Following some serious anti-social activity over last weekend, particularly on Sunday 26th Feb by some (as yet) unidentified Juvenile Club members and their friends. We have decided that the following policy will be enforced in future for Juvenile players wishing to access the Gym to play Table Tennis etc.
  1. Access to any member under the age of 16 will only be allowed when a responsible adult, parent or mentor is present.
  2. The Gym shall be kept locked and the key given only to the responsible person mentioned above.
  3. If there is no responsible adult available to take the key from the staff access will be denied.
It is extremely regrettable that it has come to this and that genuine and well behaved kids will pay the penalty but we cannot allow this type of wanton vandalism that occurred to continue.
We appreciate that it was a small number of individuals involved and that the majority of all our players are completely innocent and behave properly at all times but in order to ensure that our bar staff do not have to deal with this again we have no choice but to adopt this course of action.

Gaelic for Mothers is still going strong with around 20 mothers turning up on Sunday evenings, thanks again to Sarah Caulfield for her coaching and to 'Tall Paul' for helping out on the odd occasion.

Great to see our Astro is getting good use during daytime from our local school teams. Best of luck to Scoil Assaims, Scoil Aine and St Brigids is their up and coming games.

Thanks to Linda and Roise (3) for their fab mural on our club doors advertising our Upcoming Easter Camp, registration forms can be down loaded from here or collected from the Club Lounge.
