Well done to Jack Fagan who won the inaugural U12 Hurling Wall competition on Good Friday.
Competing against 12 others across 6 other clubs, Jack came out the overall winner.
Thanks to O'Tooles GAA club for the event and Pat Kearney (hurleymaker) for sponsoring the event. read more ...

Our Easter Camp was a great success we had 211 children, thank you to Dotsy and his helpers for all their hard work. We got a little bit of feed back from some of the children involved.

Roise (5) "The leaders were very friendly and funny, I loved the different stations and I hope I get the same leaders in the summer camps".

Aisling (7) "I really liked the games we played. Especially the star jump game.  The hurling and football was great fun and my coaches were great!"

Molly (10) "I gave the camp 5/10 on the first day but 9/10 for the rest of it. Brilliant fun."

GOOD FRIDAY TOURNAMENT U8
The 2nd year of Craobh Chiaráin's Good Friday Hurling tournament took place over the weekend. This tournament is a great initiative by Craobh Chiaráin with teams playing for trophies named in honour of past members.

In the under 8 section Raheny, Craobh Chiaráin and Na Fianna faced off in a round robin series of matches.

In the 1st pair of matches, our lads put in great efforts to win both matches against Craobh Chiaráin. Daniel Broderick was on target several times in one of the games, while in the other game Karl English and Ruairi Kelly got the winning scores.
Our next encounters were against a very strong Na Fianna outfit. Na Fianna were too strong in one of the games winning 5-0, giving the boys a lesson in taking chances.
However in the second match our lads led by Eoghan Cullen and Conor Ahearne defended like heroes to go in at half time with no score on the board. In the 2nd half we got a couple of quick goals and held off Na Fianna's comeback to win 2-1.
Well done to all 17 players who played their part for Raheny in this years competition. The tournament was decided on score difference and for the 2nd year running our boys lifted the winners trophy. Keep up the good work lads you are all improving by the week.
A big thank you to Phil Cullen and Craobh Chiaráin for our invitation to play again this year.
Hope to be back next year!

AFL 2
- Raheny 1-12 Na Fianna 0-10
This Good Friday challenge game proved to be a very useful exercise for the thus far unbeaten Senior Footballers. It was a chance to test themselves against a quality team, also unbeaten this year in division one.
Although the performance of the team proved impressive on the day for both management and the many supporters that turned up, it was the performance of some of the players who have so far been on the fringe of the team that will give Whelo and his management team most satisfaction. Players such as Ger Coady, Seán Byrne, Paddy O'Higgins and Davey Carroll all performed well and will give serious selection headaches for the management team ahead of their next Division two league game against Skerries out in Skerries on Sunday week. This healthy competition for places has been a key ingredient in the team's displays to date and will hopefully keep the maroon machine rolling in the right direction.
Another challenge game against St Judes next Monday evening at 6.45 in St Annes, also a tough division one team should provide further good preparation ahead of both the Skerries league game and the senior championship. Everyone involved with the team also greatly appreciates the supporters that have turned up to cheer on the team so far and will continue to welcome all further support for both home and away games throughout the year.

Many thanks to Jackie Cheevers from Raheny Dental Clinic who sponsored a new set of jerseys for the adult AFL2 footballers.

ANY PLAYER TRAVELLING TO NORTH AMERICA THIS YEAR AND CONSIDERING PLAYING GAA, SHOULD READ AND ACTION BELOW.

A chara,

You will be aware that An Coiste Bainisti made a decision at their last meeting that all players who seek to receive a sanction to the North American, New York or Canadian County Board areas must obtain insurance cover from the GAA before a sanction can be granted.

This insurance cover will cost €40 and sanctions will not be processed going forward unless this insurance has been purchased, and receipt of purchase is submitted with a sanction application

Therefore, players who wish to receive a sanction to the NACB area, New York or Canada (or a Weekend Authorization in the case of New York) will need to purchase their sanction insurance at www.gaa.ie/sanctioninsurance where the €40 fee can be paid by Laser, Visa or Mastercard. After completion the player will receive a receipt by email. If the Sanction request is submitted by post, this receipt must be printed out and attached to the request; alternatively if the sanction is submitted by email this receipt must accompany the sanction form.

Where an individual is not in a position to register online, Postal or Money Orders to the value of €40 can be attached to postal requests.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that any player who has been included on an Inter County Senior Championship panel in 2012 (i,e. whose name is on the list submitted to the Referee for a Championship game) is not eligible for a Sanction to the North American County Board Area, unless he holds a valid J1 visa or meets the requirements to obtainr same.

If you have any further queries on any of these matters, please feel free to contact Stephen Browne on 01-8658685.
