Club Notes January 16th 2012

Best of luck to David Henry who has retired from Inter County football with 7 Leinster and 1 All Ireland medal after over 10 years of commitment to the Dubs. David has been a role model for many people in Raheny GAA and further afield. He has always been a credit to himself, his family, his club and his parish.  

Congratulations also to David and long time girlfriend Barbara on their recent engagement. Barbara also holds Leinster medals for Rince Foirne with Scor.






Membership Fees for 2012 are now due and all members are asked to attend to same asap. Membership fees can also be paid by Credit Card or Laser at the club bar during opening hours.

For fundraising purposes please donate your old mobiles and ipods. All members are asked to check out at home, with family and friends re same. A large Collection Box is now available in clubhouse, all mentors are requested to ask their players to assist this initiative.



A big thank you to all involved for a comprehensive clean up and re-organisation of the club Gym last Saturday. All Gym users are asked to keep the place CLEAN & TIDY, use the bins provided and return Gym equipment to the proper slots. Most importantly, DO NOT DROP ANY WEIGHTS DIRECTLY ONTO THE TILES, use the mats provided,as we already have a number of cracked floor tiles.

If you have any surplus GYM equipment at home, please contact Greg Benett who is compiling an inventory of GYM equipment upgrade requirements. The GYM timetable for adults teams is currently being reviewed by Kevin Broderick in conjunction with Greg Bennett, more to follow.


Our Ogra is back in action every Saturday morning for 4-7yr old boys and girls. Thanks to all involved in helping out. the OGRA are looking for Adult Players to give a few hours during the year, interested, a hour once on a month on Saturdays 10-11:00? Contact Kevin Welsh or Ronan Leech.


U14 Feile Hurlers continue their intensive skills programme on the club astro. U14 Footballers are also back in action and they had a good workout away to Ballymun Kickams last Saturday.


St.Annes pitches remain unplayable until further notice, that applies to both Training and Matches. Keep an eye on club website Fridays after lunchtime, where pitch updates will be posted after inspection by Dublin City Council officials.

Senior AFL2 Footballers give a big welcome to Ciaran Whelan and Niall Curley who have linked with Brendan Keane,Ray McDunphy and Colm McMahon for 2012 management and coaching. All the adult male players and teams across AFL football and AHL hurling commenced pre-season training last week. Another big thank you to all those who gave of their time last week supervising a thorough Physical Assessment of over 70 adult players. There were a lot of tired bodies sighted roaming around the club house afterwards !!


Ladies Adult football welcome Andrew Dowling (Manager) and Ron Richardson to the backroom team for 2012. The club are forming a new Ladies Football Minor Team for 2012, the Management team will be Conor Henry and Paddy Bradshaw.


Minor hurlers welcome Cian Burgess and Conor O'Moore to the management team.


Senior SCL1 Camogie Management team 2012 is Enda Mulcahy (Manager), Eadoin Mulcahy and Eugene Larmon. The Adult Camogie and Ladies Footballers will shortly commence joint pre-season training.


Managers, Coaches, Selectors are still required for 2012 season for the following Adult teams:
  • Senior Hurlers AHL2,
  • Minor Football

The Adult Players White Collar boxing fundraising committee met Monday 16th and progress has been reported, more to follow.


Fundraising will be necessary if we want to maintain the high standards. All teams are asked to notify the club secretary regarding any proposed fundraising events, so that the club can co-ordinate same.


Winter Training facilities are in place now for teams, anybody looking for access to external facilities, touch base with Ronan Leech who has a good overview of what is and is not available. Winter Training Slots for the club Astro have now been finalised and circulated to mentors. Mentors on the earlier slots are asked to obtain light tokens and keys in advance, as the clubhouse opens from 7:30pm Monday to Thursday. To view the the new time slots click here ...


Dublin host 2 National Feiles 2012 over July 7th, 8th, 9th and Raheny GAA will be hosting travelling teams. Thanks to Enda Morris (Hurling) and Pat Stack (Camogie) who are have volunteered as the clubs Feile Co-Ordinators.

Scor Sinsear semi-finals take place Tues 7th Feb. and Thurs 9th Feb.Venues TBA. Final Thurs Feb.23rd.Table Quiz as Gaeilge Wed.Jan 25th. Eventual Leinster winners go to Croke Park on club finals day for All-Ireland final.
