U9s Boys

Last Saturday morning we hosted Clontarf on Pitch 12A for football.

A mixed bag of results saw us winners in our third match but losing the other two games.

In the first game, we had more scores than Clontarf but they were victorious due to the number of skill points they achieved. It was noticeable that they were well ahead of us in their blocking skills - something we will have to work on harder. When our lads had the ball, there was some very good interplay and passing. Particularly good performances came from Ruairi Kelly and John McNally.

In our second game we had a very competitive match between two evenly matched teams. Every Raheny player tackled and blocked very well today with 6 blocking skill points split evenly amongst the boys. Before the game we asked the players to work on this aspect so well done boys! Clontarf were strong under the high ball and were very comfortable catching the ball. This is another area we will work on with our lads. Top performances from Brian Purcell, Matthew Sherlock and Aaron Fitzsimons with huge improvement from Cormac Lenehan and Morgan Spillane .

In the third match, the Raheny boys were on top from the start and dominated the possession. Some scoring boots appeared to be left at home and the match was a lot tighter than it really should have been. Very strong performances from Jason Maguire and Johnny Robinson meant that Raheny never lost their grip on the game. Good performances too from Scott Dennis and Jack Bosonnet.

Finally, a big welcome to our new player Ben McQuaid who played his first game for us this morning.

U9 Girls - Away to Vincent's
Under nines camogie played away to Vincent’s on Saturday the 19th Oct. The girls played brilliantly and it came down to a very close call.  They weren’t allowed to lift the ball up in the first half.   In the second half they opened up and went full throttle against Vincent’s showing some fantastic skill levels for their age.
Well done girls.

A big happy birthday from all the mentors and team to Aisling Brassil & Aoife Mullen who will be celebrating their birthdays this week
