AFL1 Match report RAHENY 1-6 FINGALLIANS 2-4

6th April 2008

Played Saturday 4pm in Swords. Our county players were not available due to Dubs v Roscommon game later on.

Having played against a strong breeze, Raheny trailed by 2 points at half time. We played good football and the team worked very hard to contain Fingallians. Donal Ryan was in great form scoring a very good goal.

The second half developed into a scrappy game with numerous interuptions and some scenes which have no place on a Gaelic Football field. It took the intervention of both managers to get the game re-started.

Raheny reduced the margin to one point but a soft turnover led to an easy goal and while we got back to within a point, we showed our inexperience and could not get the equaliser. Midway through the second half, Fingallians were reduced to 14 men, we should have taken 2 points from this game.

This young team are learning and in time they will learn how to close these games out.
