Pat Gilroy is confident that Dublin will avoid an immediate return to Division 2 of the NFL after their draw with Mayo.

The Dubs boss was in much more upbeat mood than he had been after last weekend's defeat to Derry, as his side continues to build towards the championship.

"I think if we play like that in our last two games we will survive," he predicted.

"As the grounds get harder, our football will improve and our effort and work-rate is good.

"The main thing to take from it was that the performance was a hell of a lot better than the last day. Our work-rate was better in all sectors throughout the game. We still made far too many mistakes, but I feel as the ground hardens up our football will get better."
