Raheny V N. Barrog U13 Div 2 Clash

Raheny 5-12 N. Barrog 5-08

A superb game of football played in a very sporting manner by both teams, with only two personal fouls in the whole game. Raheny started very slugglishy but still managed the opening score. N. Barrog replied with a flurry of scores but Raheny somehow managed to stay in touch with them. N. Barrog having most of the play in the first half did not take their scores and some lightening reflexes from Ryan Bradshaw in the Raheny goal kept N. Barrog at bay. Just before half time the opening goal of the game came from a powerful punch by Darren Byrne sending the ball flying past the on-rushing N. Barrog keeper. Half time Raheny were ahead by 5 points.

Raheny started the second half the stronger team and remained so for most of the the remainder. Raheny mentors made an inspirational switch at half time sending on Cormac McDermott replacing Pierce O’Donoghue, pounced like a cat on to two breaking balls in the N. Barrog goal area and smashed them both into the back of the net . Raheny were now well on top by 10 points, but Barrog managed to claw their way back into the game and came within 4 points of Raheny, Lady Luck was smiling on Raheny with the crossbar, the upright and our goalkeeper the saviour.

A great TEAM performance by ALL Raheny players with honourable mentions Ryan Bradshaw in goal, Sean McCarthy at full, Darren Cooper & Phillip Shatwell at half back, Brian Howard & James O’Kane at mid, half forwards Ian Garry & Fiachra O’Flynn.
