Venue: Finglas

Competition: AFL 1 Round 6

Raheny 1-11  Erins Isle  2-6

This was the team's first league outing in four weeks after a break. In between the lads had played two challenge games against Bray and Pollagh both resulting in wins. The game started badly for Raheny with Isle's scoring an early goal to lead by four points after 10 minutes. However, Raheny quickly got back into the game with an opportunistic goal from Darragh Pelly bringing them right back into things. A feature of the game was the powerful running of John Ryan at wing forward where he created numerous chances for the other forwards. Sean Swords and Rob Donnelly were both excelling in the half back line and up front Jimmy Keogh and Eoin Delaney were also causing difficulty for the Isle's backline.

Into the second half and Raheny began to take control with the introduction of Luke Dillon bringing added zest to the attack. Several points later and Raheny were in command with Gavin Beaddie and Delaney again to the forefront. Isles notched a late goal to make for a nervous finish but Raheny held out for a much needed win and two valuable league points. Next up for the team is a home league fixture against Sylvesters on Wednesday night.
