well done to the under 10 footballers who defeated Ballymun on an overall score of 71-59 way from home on Saturday 11 Sept.

training Wednesday 22nd Sept. due to the daylight closing in we will start at 6.20 SHARP.

A Team:

Raheny struggled with the strong wind at the back early in the first half and conceded some easy scores which we should have prevented. Some well worked team points late in the half saw us trail 20-18 at h/t. In the second half we forgot to pass and move the ball quickly for and resorted to kicking the ball away which helped Ballymun to stretch their lead. However we did play well in patches and stayed in touch right to the end with some well taken scores but ended up losing 35-30.

Players must remember to pass the ball quickly and move again into space to receive it rather than holding on to it and fouling or giving Ballymun the chance to rob the ball back. When we played our quick passing football, we were too good for Ballymun and scored some great points. All in all we scored 10 good points in the game and that should have been enough to win.

Best for Raheny were Kevin Byrne who was superb at the back, Brian Maher and Darren Branigan in the middle who worked hard and Daragh English who put in a great shift up front and got on the scoresheet.

B Team:

A good performance in the first half against the wind saw Raheny score 5 points to one point and 2 goals for Ballymun to lead 15-8 at H/T. The second half was a different story. Raheny closed down the short kick outs from Ballymun and applied a lot more pressure generally. Ballymun were again held to just one point in the second half and Raheny eventually won 25-12. There were also a few kicks which were close but not given .

Well done to the defenders on the day - Michael Brennan , Simon Geoghegan and Liam Synott because they did not give many scoring opportunities to their opponents.

Liam Dunne and Stephen O Shea shared goalkeeping and midfield duties and did well at both. Liam also scored 2 points in the first half and Stephen one in the second. Declan came in for a lot of unfair punishment from the opposition but stood up well to show his class. Adam McDonnell also did well at midfield and ended up top scorer with 2 points and one goal

Upfront Jordan Doyle, Nathan Morgan and David McSharry played well and kept the defenders pressured especially in the second half. Jordan scored 2 points and Nathan one to complete the Raheny scorers. Well done lads!

C Team: played very well to win 16-12. the hand passes were very good and we kicked some great scores. Best were Patrick Kelly, Tom Keogh in the middle and Grace Harkin who scored a great point only to be ruled out by a poor refereeing decision.

next match Saturday 25th September.
